East Coast brews
For all of you on the East Coast, I thought I should point out a little known fact. The finest brewery on our side of the continent is located in Milton, Delaware. It’s called Dogfish Head, and they make some tasty, tasty brews. I’m more than partial to hoppy brews, and IPAs in particular. Dogfish Head makes three different IPAs, denoted by the length of time in which they hop the wort. Thus, DH sells the 60 Minute IPA, the 90 Minute IPA and, new this month, the 120 Minute IPA.
I don’t know how they do it anymore, but legend has it, that they originally rigged up a vibrating ramp upon which they continually dropped hops. The vibrating forced the hops down the ramp at a continuous pace, thus allowing DH to continually add hops to their wort over time. This means that their 120 Minute IPA is hopped for two full hours! Anyway, the 60 Minute IPA is one of my favorite affordable beers, and the 90 Minute IPA, despite its $9 price tag, is just fantastic. I haven’t seen the 120 Minute, but I’ll report on it when I finally get to try it. If you live on the East Coast, I recommend you try them too.
